Manipur: Tangkhul Naga Frontal Organizations Declare Restriction on Rallies and Agitations Amid Violence

Northeast Desk, 28th November: Frontal organizations representing the Tangkhul Naga community have issued a stern warning, asserting that any organization or forums intending to conduct rallies or agitations within Tangkhul Naga areas related to the ongoing conflict must consult with them beforehand.

The notification, released on Monday by four Tangkhul civil bodies, emphasizes their commitment to peaceful coexistence and neutrality amid the communal crisis.

This response from Tangkhul frontal organizations is prompted by the planned “Nationwide Rally” of the Kuki-Zo tribal, which is scheduled for November 29 and, based on available information, will take place in at least 21 locations across India, including as many as 12 States: Chennai, Delhi, Assam, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram. The rally is intended to support the tribe’s demand for “Separate Administration.”

The four Tangkhul frontal organizations—Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long—explicitly state that any unwarranted situation will not be tolerated.

They warn that non-compliance with the notification will be considered willful defiance, necessitating stern action. This development underscores the heightened tensions and sensitivities surrounding communal issues in the region.
