Manipur: Security Forces Conduct Significant Operation, Detain 255 and Seize Arms Cache

Northeast Desk, 1st December: In a decisive operation, security forces in Manipur detained 255 individuals and seized a cache of arms and ammunition across various districts. The crackdown aimed at ensuring the smooth movement of essential items through the state resulted in the detention of 430 vehicles on NH-37 and 460 vehicles on NH-2, all carrying essential goods.

The security measures included intensified operations in vulnerable locations, with police convoys accompanying vehicles in sensitive stretches to ensure free and secure transportation.

A total of 141 Nakas/Checkpoints were strategically positioned in both hill and valley districts.

The seizure of illicit firearms and ammunition was a noteworthy outcome of the operation.

Notable seizures include a 9mm pistol with a magazine, 3 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 6 hand grenades in Imphal East. In Churachandpur District, authorities recovered 6 arms, including a 9mm pistol, a 9mm CMG, a .303 rifle, two 12 bore rifles, and a single barrel.

Additionally, the cache included two country-made long-range mortars, cartridges, tear smoke shells, and a radio set. The operation underscores the commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
