Arunachal: East Kameng District Achieves ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Certification, CM Pema Khandu
Northeast Desk, 1st December: Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced a significant achievement in Arunachal Pradesh’s mission to provide access to clean tap water, with the certification of East Kameng district as ‘Har Ghar Jal.’ This certification signifies that every household in the district now has access to safe tap water.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended the dedicated team overcoming geographical challenges in Arunachal Pradesh to ensure residents’ access to safe drinking water. The ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certification for East Kameng district, dated 27/11/2023, reflects the relentless efforts to improve the quality of life for the people in this region.
The certification is aligned with the objectives of the Har Ghar Jal Scheme, a part of the Jal Jeevan Mission initiated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The mission aims to provide every household in the country with access to piped water connections.
Under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme, there has been a notable increase in the percentage of households in India with access to piped water connections, marking a commendable progress rate of 64% since its launch. The initiative goes beyond individual households, extending to rural schools, anganwadis, and community buildings to ensure widespread access to safe tap water.
