Telangana Election Results: Early Leads Show Congress Crossing Halfway Mark, KCR Trails
National Desk, 3rd December: As the election results unfold, Congress has surpassed the halfway mark in Telangana, showcasing early leads in the ongoing counting process. Notably, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trailing in the Kamareddy seat.
BRS MP K Keshava Rao, acknowledging the early trends, refrains from delving into specific numbers. He emphasizes not underestimating the surveys and states, “I will not get into the figures now because I would not undermine the surveys. You have your own studies, I have mine.” According to his assessment, the party has a comfortable majority to secure power, highlighting that Congress is fighting independently without substantial support, unlike BJP and AIMIM, which are expected to extend support if necessary.
Commenting on Congress’s lead, Keshava Rao acknowledges their commendable performance, stating, “We have to congratulate them. This is not a joke. They have done a great job. We are coming down, they have gone up.” He emphasizes the importance of accepting the evolving situation transparently based on factual figures.
Telangana witnessed polling in a single phase on November 30, with a notable 71% voter turnout.
Key candidates in the election include Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and state Congress chief A Revanth Reddy. The outcome remains awaited, posing the question of whether Congress will successfully displace the BRS from power, potentially thwarting its aspirations for a historic third term in government.
