Manipur: Four Arrested with 254.52 Grams of Heroin on NH-37
Northeast Desk, 6th December: In a significant operation, Manipur Police successfully apprehended four alleged drug smugglers, including two women, along with a sizable quantity of high-quality heroin.
The arrests took place during the night of December 4-5, 2023, near Leingangpokpi OP on NH-37, the route connecting Imphal to Silchar via Jiribam district.
The seized items from the suspects’ possession include 20 soap caps containing a brown-colored powder, suspected to be contraband drugs, weighing a total of 254.52 grams.
Additionally, the police recovered four mobile phones and impounded a Maruti Gypsy vehicle used by the arrested individuals. The Manipur Police promptly registered a case at Jiribam PS to initiate further investigation.
Taking to the X handle, Manipur police wrote, “In the intervening night of 04.12.2023 and 05.12.2023 Manipur Police arrested 4(four) individuals near Leingangpokpi OP and recovered the following items from their possession: (i) 20 (twenty) soap caps containing brown colour powder (suspected to be contraband drugs) weighing a total of 254.52 grams (ii) 4 (four) mobile phones (iii) 1 (one) Maruti Gypsy vehicle. A case has been registered at Jiribam PS for further investigation.”
The detained individuals have been identified as follows:
1. Nengjahat Khongsai (37), wife of Khupneilal Khongsai alias Lalboy, residing in Kaprang Luphai Khul, Churachandpur.
2. Neikhohei Kipgen (45), wife of Ngamkhothang Kipgen, hailing from Dampi Moljang village in Churachandpur.
3. Seiminthang Haokip (41), son of late Tingthang Haokip, presently residing at Aijalon near Tuibong.
4. Ngamkholal Haokip (35), son of Jamthang Haokip, currently residing at Changleikhul, Churachandpur.
The arrests were made while the individuals were traveling in a Maruti Gypsy vehicle. The Manipur Police are diligently pursuing the case to uncover further details.
