Assam: Illegal teer mafia arrested by state police in Gauripur

Guwahati, 6th December: In response to the surge in illegal “teer” gambling activities, authorities are intensifying efforts to curb such operations.

In the latest development, Gauripur police in Dhubri arrested an alleged teer mafia, identified as Raju Das, residing in Kalibari, Ward No.2 of Gauripur.

The arrest occurred at the Gauripur tempo stand, where Raju Das was apprehended while selling teer tickets.

The police, led by Inspector Bikash Pratim Mahanta, conducted a search operation, resulting in the recovery of Rs. 16,570 in cash, teer books, and other incriminating materials from Das’s possession in the presence of the public.

Following the arrest, Gauripur police brought Raju Das to the police station for further interrogation. Authorities aim to gather more information about the illegal networks involved in such “teer” activities. The crackdown underscores the commitment of law enforcement to address the issue of unauthorized gambling and protect the public from financial losses associated with these illegal operations
