Zoram People’s Movement Leader Lalduhoma Officially takes over as new Mizoram Chief Minister

Northeast Desk, 6th December: Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati formally appointed Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma as the new Chief Minister of the state on December 6.

Lalduhoma, who secured a decisive victory in the recent elections, met with Governor Hari Babu to stake his claim for the government’s formation.

The ZPM chief’s landslide win positions him to succeed Zoramthanga as Mizoram’s next Chief Minister. Lalduhoma noted that the youth in the state were weary of the incumbent Mizo National Front (MNF) and desired a change in leadership with fresh ideas and principles.

Expressing gratitude for the victory, Lalduhoma attributed it to the blessings of God and the people. He emphasized that his selection as CM was anticipated, as the public had chosen him the previous year.

He stated, the new government would address various issues across its 45 departments.

After the swearing-in ceremony, Lalduhoma plans to hold a press conference to announce the government’s top priorities. ZPM celebrated their electoral success with a special worship service. Newly elected ZPM MLA Baryl Vanneihsangi, present at the service, dedicated her victory to the women in her community.
