BJP MPs Resign from Lok Sabha Following State Election Triumphs
National Desk, 6th December: In the aftermath of securing victories in the state assembly polls in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, ten out of the twelve Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of Parliament (MPs) have resigned from their Lok Sabha seats. BJP chief JP Nadda led the delegation of MPs in submitting their resignations during a meeting with the Speaker.
Those resigning include prominent figures like Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Riti Pathak, Rakesh Singh, and Uday Pratap Singh from Madhya Pradesh, while Rajasthan saw resignations from MPs such as Rajyavardhan Rathore, Kirodi Lal Meena, and Diya Kumari.
Arun Sao and Gomti Sai represented Chhattisgarh in this move, while Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh are yet to submit their resignations.
The BJP’s decisive victories in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh have positioned the party to form governments in these states, significantly overshadowing the Congress. However, the Congress emerged victorious in Telangana, delivering a blow to K Chandrashekar Rao’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Chief ministers of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana have submitted their resignation letters to their respective governors. The recently concluded state assembly elections were widely regarded as a semi-final ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the coming year.
