Nagaland: Wokha District Administration Provides Ultimatum for NH-2 Structure Removal
Northeast Desk, 7th December: Ajit Kumar Ranjan (IAS), the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha on December 7 issued a definitive notice to concerned parties regarding the elimination of compensated structures along NH-2 within Wokha district. The initial notice, dated June 21, 2023, set the groundwork for this directive.
The encroachment upon National Highway land, whether temporary or permanent, raises substantial concerns related to traffic management, operational efficiency, and upcoming upgrade projects. Additionally, such encroachments are deemed offenses under Section 29 of the National Highway Act 1956 and Section 447 of the Indian Penal Code.
This ultimate notice serves as a clear directive to all individuals who have encroached upon the National Highway, requiring them to promptly remove or vacate the structures/plots within 10 days from the date of this order. Non-compliance within this specified timeframe will result in the forceful removal of structures without any further notice.
