Tripura: DoNER Allocates Rs 717 Crore for Five Projects

Northeast Desk, 9th December: Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved Rs 717 crore for five projects in Tripura. The allocated funds include Rs 202 crore for the construction of a dental college, aiming to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the northeastern state. Additionally, Rs 192 crore has been sanctioned for a mother and childcare unit at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC), addressing crucial maternal and child healthcare needs.

Another significant allocation of Rs 121 crore has been directed towards the establishment of a drug de-addiction centre in Sepahijala district, contributing to addressing substance abuse challenges in the region. Chief Minister Saha expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the consistent support provided under the double-engine government, leading to improvements in the socio-economic conditions of Tripura’s residents.

“Under the double-engine government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the socio-economic condition of people living in Tripura has been enhanced… Rs 717 crore has been sanctioned to undertake five projects in the state. I thank the prime minister for his unwavering help to the people of the state,” Saha said in a Facebook post. 

To promote sustainable energy solutions, an outlay of Rs 80 crore has been designated for the development of micro-grids, specifically focusing on expanding solar power initiatives in tribal-dominated areas. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering renewable energy sources.

Furthermore, Rs 122 crore has been approved for the initiation of three rural road construction projects, enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in rural regions. These developments underscore the commitment to comprehensive growth and development in Tripura, with a focus on healthcare, renewable energy, and rural infrastructure.

Chief Minister Saha’s announcement reflects the collaborative efforts of the central and state governments in advancing the well-being and progress of Tripura. The sanctioned funds will play a pivotal role in addressing critical needs and fostering sustainable development across various sectors in the state.
