Assam: ULFA-I Warns of Further Attacks, Criticizes DGP’s “Arrogance”
Guwahati, 10th December: The banned militant group United Liberation of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) has issued a stern threat, declaring its intention to carry out additional attacks in the state. The warning is directed at Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, cautioning him against maintaining what the group perceives as “arrogance.”
In a strongly-worded press release, ULFA-I claimed responsibility for both the grenade attacks at Tinsukia’s Dirak Army camp and Jaisagar CRPF camp in Sivasagar. The outfit urged DGP GP Singh not to treat Assam Police as his “ancestral property” and warned against asserting dominance over it.
While emphasizing that ULFA-I harbors no animosity towards Assam Police, acknowledging that its personnel are sons of the state, the group firmly objected to what it deemed as DGP Singh’s arrogance. ULFA-I insisted that Singh’s behavior has hurt the self-respect of Assam Police officers and members. The militant outfit concluded the press release with a threat, indicating potential future grenade attacks if DGP Singh does not relinquish what they perceive as undue arrogance.
The situation raises concerns about the security landscape in Assam, highlighting the need for measures to address the root causes of such conflicts and prevent further escalations.
