Manipur: Huge cache of arms and ammunition seized in Thoubal

Northeast Desk, 11th December: Security forces have successfully seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including hand grenades and sophisticated weapons, in the General Area Village Salam Patong in Thoubal District of Manipur, as reported by Assam Rifles on December 11.

The recovered items include one CMG, four hand grenades, four Chinese grenades, one stun & tear grenade each, one 09 mm pistol, one locally made pistol, six shotgun shells, one unexploded heavy-caliber ammunition, and one launching tube of SLR.

In a related incident on December 9, Manipur police successfully rescued a kidnapped student from DM College of Science in Imphal. Eight alleged kidnappers were arrested during a search operation at Yumnam Huidrom village, Wangoi police station of Imphal West district. The student, abducted from the New Boy’s Hostel of DM College, was rescued after a swift response from the police, who carried out raids to trace and secure the student.

These actions highlight the proactive efforts of security forces in Manipur to maintain law and order, targeting illegal activities and ensuring the safety of residents in the region.
