Sikkim Chief Minister Receives Spirited Welcome in Varanasi, Embarks on Cultural Celebration

Northeast Desk, 15th December: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at Varanasi airport, setting the stage for a dynamic two-day visit to the spiritual city in Uttar Pradesh. The enthusiastic greeting, orchestrated by priests, Sikkimese students, and civil society members, reflected the charm of Varanasi.

The highlight of Chief Minister Tamang’s itinerary was a much-anticipated event at Pyari Devi Intermediate College in Tapovan Ramnagar, Varanasi, scheduled for December 15, 2023. The program promised a cultural extravaganza and engaging activities.

Upon arrival at Pyari Devi Intermediate College, Chief Minister Tamang received a grand welcome at the International airport. A Welcome Ceremony unfolded, featuring a Garlanded ceremony at the Goddess Saraswati statue on the college campus. The Chief Minister inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

A cultural program titled “मेरी माटी, मेरा देश, मेरा विद्यालय” (My Soil, My Nation, My School) was held, envisioning a unified celebration of India’s soil and valour. The program commemorated the nation’s journey of freedom and progress, fostering national pride and inspiring future generations to protect India’s heritage.

The Pyari Devi Intermediate College program included addresses by the Chief Minister and the Governor, along with the National Song and a Students’ Exhibition tour. Festivities concluded with a lunch session, and Chief Minister Tamang bid farewell to the college.

Later in the day, Chief Minister Tamang was scheduled to visit the residence of Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, at Vishnupuri Colony, Ramnagar, Varanasi.
