Northeast Desk, 16th December: Three additional militants from the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), including a self-styled Major, were apprehended in a raid at the Khasnam Para Bru settlement camp in Tripura’s North District.
Based on a tip-off, the arrest was conducted by Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles.
The individuals were identified as Ganaram Rang (self-styled Major), Rai Bahadur Reang, and Rai Taingha Reang. They joined NLFT (PD) in July 2023.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a Chinese Pistol, live ammunition, NLFT notices, subscription notices and Indian and Bangladeshi currency.
Intelligence sources suggest the arrested extremists crossed over from an NLFT hideout in Bangladesh.
