Assam: NIA Conducts Raids at Jorhat Blast Site

Guwahati, 16th December: A specialized unit of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out investigation at the blast site in Jorhat, following a massive explosion near an Army cantonment on Thursday. While the blast caused a high sound impact, fortunately, there was no major damage reported at the site.

The incident occurred around 7:20 pm near the Army camp in Jorhat, prompting swift action by the authorities. The exact source of the blast is yet to be determined, leading to the NIA launching an investigation into the matter.

Notably, this blast is part of a series of bomb explosions at three locations in upper Assam, raising concerns and questions about the nature and intent behind these incidents. The Union Home Ministry has taken these incidents seriously, and the NIA has been entrusted with the task of conducting a thorough investigation.

In the early hours of Saturday, NIA teams arrived at Army camp number 41 at Lichubari in Jorhat to examine the site and initiate the operation. However, the Jorhat district administration has not provided any official comments to the media regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has taken measures to conceal the borders of the entire army camp with cloth, seemingly to manage the fallout and limit media access to video coverage and news dissemination. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the blast in Jorhat.
