Bihar: Priest Brutally Murdered Triggering Clashes and Outrage

National Desk, 17th December: In a horrifying incident in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, a missing priest, Manoj Kumar, was found dead with his body brutally mutilated. The discovery ignited clashes between locals and the police, resulting in injuries to two police officials. The victim’s eyes were gouged out, and his genitals were mutilated.

Manoj Kumar, a priest of a Shiva temple in Danapur village, had been missing for six days. His brother, Ashok Kumar Shah, is a former divisional president of the BJP. The police initiated an investigation when Manoj Kumar disappeared after leaving his house to go to the temple.

On Saturday, the police discovered the priest’s body in the village bushes, leading to accusations of police negligence by the locals. Clashes ensued, with locals throwing stones at the police and setting a police vehicle on fire. The police responded by firing in the air to control the situation.

Gopalganj Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pranjal later arrived at the scene to pacify the agitated locals. Suresh Shah, another brother of the victim, expressed shock over the brutal murder, stating that the family had assumed Manoj Kumar would return soon. The SDPO assured that an FIR would be registered, and further action would be taken in the investigation. The situation in the village is now reported to be under control.
