Assam Government to Award Scholarships to 33,482 Students under CM’s Special Scholarship Scheme for 2016

Northeast Desk, 22nd December: In a significant move towards supporting meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, the Assam government announces the distribution of scholarships under the Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme for the year 2016. A total of 33,482 students across the state are set to benefit from this initiative, which aligns with the government’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities.

The Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme is administered by the Directorate of Elementary Education, Assam, and is part of a broader strategy to provide financial aid to deserving students. The government’s focus on education is evident through various scholarship programs, including the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship to Meritorious BPL Students under the Chief Minister’s “Assam Bikash Yojana Scheme.”

This scheme extends financial support to students in class IX and X (Pre-Matric) and class XI-XII (Post-Matric), reinforcing the state’s dedication to inclusive and quality education. Additionally, other scholarships, such as the Combined Merit Scholarship for degree and master’s degree students and specific scholarships for SC/ST/OBC girl students pursuing postgraduate studies in agriculture-related courses, further contribute to the diverse educational support system.

The recently launched Mukhya Mantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, designed to create job opportunities and enhance employability among the state’s youth, complements the educational scholarships. The government’s comprehensive approach underscores its commitment to nurturing a skilled and self-reliant generation in Assam.

The Directorate of Higher Education in Assam ensures transparency and accessibility, maintaining a document repository with detailed information about various scholarship schemes. Initiatives like the Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship Examination of 2014, coupled with secure financial planning through fixed deposit receipts, demonstrate the state’s forward-looking strategy to ensure sustained support for education.

In summary, the Assam government’s dedication to providing financial assistance through a range of scholarship schemes, including the Chief Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme, reflects a concerted effort to elevate the educational landscape and empower students to achieve their academic aspirations.
