Delhi Court Extends Custodial Remand for Accused in Parliament Security Breach Incident
National Desk, 22nd December: The Parliament security breach case took a new turn as the Delhi Court extended the custodial remand of Lalit Jha, the alleged mastermind and fifth accused, along with Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam Devi, and Amol Shinde, until January 5, 2024. Their initial seven-day remand concluded on Thursday (December 21), leading to a court appearance at Patiala House Court today.
The prosecution sought a 15-day extension for custodial remand, highlighting the severity of the case. Sagar Sharma was responsible for a security breach in the Parliament, leaping from the visitor’s gallery towards the Speaker, while others exacerbated the situation by releasing colored gas. Lalit Jha recorded the breach and later surrendered to the police.
In a parallel development, the police apprehended individuals who provided shelter to the accused. Additionally, software engineer Saikrishna Jagali, a friend of accused Manoranjan D, has been detained by the Delhi Police Special Cell in connection with the case. Jagali was picked up from his residence in Bagalkote.
