Manipur: Zomi Council Steering Committee Expresses Gratitude to PM for Honorable Burial of Martyrs
Northeast Desk, 22nd December: The Zomi Council Steering Committee (ZCSC) conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister of India for facilitating the honorable burial of martyrs from the Zo community who lost their lives in the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
The committee recognized the sensitive nature of the situation and appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership in allowing the Zo people to perform the last rites for their loved ones.
Despite the progress, the ZCSC highlighted the need for continued attention, emphasizing that the situation in Manipur remains delicate.
The committee urged the Central Government to critically assess information, expedite Political Talks with the United Peoples’ Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organization (KNO), and consider creating a separate administrative setup for the Zo people within the Indian Constitution to ensure inclusive development and lasting peace.
