Assam CM Announces Erection of Atal Behari Vajpayee Statue at Atal Udyan in Guwahati
Guwahati, 25th December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared today the forthcoming installation of a statue honoring former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee at Atal Udyan in Guwahati. Speaking on the sidelines of Atal Behari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, CM Sarma outlined plans to commence the construction of the statue at the designated site.
“We will initiate the process to build his statue at Atal Udyan in Guwahati from today. Concurrently, an Atal Exhibition will be held at the park, showcasing Vajpayee ji’s life and notable achievements,” stated CM Sarma during the media interaction.
Expressing gratitude, Sarma highlighted the lasting impact of Vajpayee’s visionary initiatives on Assam and the Northeast. He acknowledged the state’s enduring debt to the late former Prime Minister, citing contributions such as the DoNER ministry, non-lapsable pool of resources, and the allocation of 10 percent of the Union Budget for the Northeast. Sarma paid tribute to Vajpayee’s role in pivotal projects like the Bogibeel Bridge, the commencement of Sarvashiksha Abhiyan, and the development of the national highway network.
