Assam: District Secretary of Veer Lachit Sena Assaulted by Group Including Woman in Jorhat
Guwahati, 26th December: In a shocking incident reported from the Jail Road area of Jorhat town in Assam, a youth identified as Dimple Das, the district secretary of Veer Lachit Sena, was physically assaulted by a group of men, which included a woman believed to be the owner of a local meat shop.
The altercation escalated quickly, with the group wielding sharp weapons, alleging that Das had not paid for the meat. Das sustained injuries in the assault and was subsequently rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for medical treatment.
At the hospital, Das informed reporters, “I didn’t recognize any of the attackers. They struck me on my chest, chased me with a machete and hit my hand. There were four people and a woman; I didn’t recognize any of them. They beat me up after accusing me of not paying up for the meat I bought.”
Following the incident, the police detained two individuals connected to the attack for further interrogation. The motive behind the assault and the details of the altercation are under investigation by the authorities.
