Northeast Desk, 26th December: In a recent development, the curfew in Bishnupur district, Manipur, has been revised, with the relaxation period shortened to 12:30 pm on December 26, deviating from the usual extension until 9:00 pm. This adjustment is outlined in an order issued by Lourembam Bikram, the District Magistrate/DC of Bishnupur, Manipur, on Tuesday.

The official order specifies that the curfew relaxation period, initially designated from 05:00 am to 09:00 pm on December 26, 2023, has now been curtailed to 05:00 am to 12:30 pm. The affected areas include Imphal Kumbi Road from INA Headquarters to Ibudhou Thangjing Temple, excluding Moirang Bazar. Notably, individuals engaged in essential services such as Health, PHED, Municipality officials/staff, and those involved in the transportation of food and water are exempted from the curfew.

Furthermore, on December 25, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh addressed a press meeting, shedding light on a noticeable decline in Manipur’s tourism industry. The Chief Minister acknowledged a reduction of 10-20% in the state’s tourism sector. Despite this setback, he emphasized that normalcy prevails in the Imphal area and other hill districts, excluding two specific regions.
