Assam: 1 killed, several injured after head-on collision in Barpeta
Guwahati, 26th December: In a horrific accident that took place in Kalgachia under Barpeta district as an educational tour turned fatal. A bus, filled with students, teachers, and parents, collided head-on with a TATA Indigo car on National Highway No 2.
The bus, with registration number AS 01 GC8484, was on an educational tour when the tragic incident occurred. The head-on collision involved a TATA IndiGo four-wheeler with registration number AS01 BK5533.
Tragically, the bus driver lost his life in the accident, while several students on board sustained injuries. Noor Mohammed, the driver of the TATA IndiGo from Satrakonra village, also lost his life in the collision. Four individuals were reported seriously injured, and approximately 15 students on the bus suffered injuries.
According to Joynal Abdin, the director of the school at Dhumarpathar under Patacharkuchi police station, the bus carried 70 students, parents, and teachers at the time of the incident.
In the aftermath, those injured, including the four occupants of the TATA IndiGo and the students and parents on the bus, were rushed to Barpeta Civil Hospital in Kolgachia in critical condition. The incident caused panic in the area, prompting a swift response from the police who arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The authorities are now investigating the circumstances leading to the tragic collision.
