Ferry Stranded in Brahmaputra: MV Shapteshwari Incident Raises Concerns
Guwahati, 28th December: On December 28, a ferry named MV Shapteshwari, en route from Nimati Ghat to Majuli in Assam, faced a distressing situation as it got stranded in the Brahmaputra River.
The ferry, carrying 200 passengers and multiple vehicles, encountered difficulties after departing from Nimatighat in Jorhat.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in September when another ferry, MV Digaru, faced a similar fate, leaving passengers stranded midstream in the Brahmaputra River.
The recurring challenges in ferry transportation highlight concerns about the safety and reliability of these vital water routes in the region.
