Home Guard Jawan Arrested for Drug Dealing in Guwahati; Accused Filmed While on Duty

Guwahati, 28th December: In a recent development, a Home Guard jawan, identified as Rubul Ali, was apprehended by Dispur police for allegedly engaging in drug peddling in Guwahati’s Khanapara area.

The arrest was prompted by a circulating video on social media, capturing Ali in the act of selling drugs while on duty under the Khanapara flyover.

The video suggests that this was not an isolated incident, with Ali suspected of being involved in drug-related activities over an extended period. His uniform provided cover, allowing him to avoid suspicion.

Swift police action ensued after the video surfaced, resulting in Ali’s arrest. A subsequent raid at his residence in Hajo led to the discovery of multiple containers filled with drugs.

Investigations reveal that Ali, exploiting his position, would tip off his associates in the drug network ahead of scheduled police raids, enabling them to evade arrest. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover additional links in this drug peddling network.
