Assam DGP GP Singh Urges Transformative Initiatives in New Year Message to Police Force

Guwahati, 5th Jan: In his New Year message to the dedicated colleagues of Assam Police, Director General of Police (DGP) Shri GP Singh IPS sets a transformative agenda for the upcoming year, emphasizing a renewed commitment to service and addressing key areas affecting the state.

As the new year begins, DGP GP Singh calls for a rededication of efforts to enhance the policing experience for the people of Assam. His primary focus lies on combating the escalating threat of cyber crimes, particularly financial frauds impacting individuals not only in Assam but also nationally and globally. Singh stresses the need for a targeted approach to address the misuse of financial institutions, mobile platforms, and the internet for such crimes.

Highlighting the critical concern of road traffic accidents, the DGP advocates for comprehensive improvements in traffic management. He positions Assam Police as a pivotal stakeholder and catalyst for change in ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens on the roads.

Singh underscores the importance of enhancing investigation procedures, aiming for an improved rate of charge sheets and convictions. Through the utilization of forensics outlined in key legislations, Assam Police aims to bring about qualitative changes in the lives of the state’s residents.

While outlining these ambitious goals, the DGP reinforces the zero-tolerance policy within the force. Police stations and offices are designated as sanctuaries for personnel and safe havens for citizens, particularly women, children, and marginalized sections of society. Any form of sexual or financial misconduct within these premises will face strict consequences.

The message emphasizes the significance of improving conduct and behavior towards junior colleagues and the general public. DGP GP Singh advocates for treating everyone with respect and empathy, urging a commitment to uphold the dignity of the uniform.

In a stern directive, the DGP asserts that being inebriated while on duty or donning the uniform will not be acceptable under any circumstances.

DGP GP Singh expresses confidence that united, Assam Police can script a glorious chapter in the state’s journey towards peace, prosperity, and development, echoing the sentiment of “Jai Hind.”
