Assam Chief Minister Announces Significant Crime Rate Reduction in the State
Guwahati, 7th January: During the 4th Central General Meeting of Akhil Asom Kalwar Samaj, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed a substantial decline in crime rates in the state. Sarma shared that the number of police cases related to crime had decreased from 1.5 lakhs in 2022 to 60,000 in 2023, marking a remarkable 50 per cent reduction. The Chief Minister expressed optimism, aiming for Assam’s crime rate to reach zero by 2024 under a secure environment.
Addressing the gathering at Bhotpara Stadium in Dhekiajuli, Sarma attributed the development and peace in Assam to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He credited the transformation of regions like Bodoland, Dima Hasao, and Karbi Anglong into peaceful areas to Modi’s governance.
Sarma emphasized the historic achievement in 2023, where Assam experienced no terrorist incidents, no casualties among security personnel, and no city-wide shutdowns. He urged the Kalwar Samaj people to actively contribute to Assam’s development and praised efforts in addressing issues such as drug trafficking, cultural disruptions, and deforestation.
Acknowledging Dhekiajuli’s historical significance as “Shahid Nagari,” Sarma expressed gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the deep connection between Uttar Pradesh and Assam. He encouraged Hindi-speaking people in Assam to take pride in being Assamese and Indians, urging them to contribute to the state’s growth and support Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a New India.
Sarma expressed confidence in Modi’s leadership, envisioning India surpassing both America and China under his continued rule. He urged unity for the upcoming elections, advocating for Modi’s reelection and envisioning a Vishwa Guru Bharat.
