Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh Takes Bold Stand Against Drug Menace, Advocates Sacrifices for Youth Safety
Northeast Desk, 9th January: In a resolute stance against the escalating threat of drugs endangering the youth in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh declared on January 9 that bold steps and sacrifices must be undertaken to ensure the safety of both present and future generations.
“Someone has to take risks to save the present and future generations. Sacrifices must be made to protect the youth from drugs and various elements threatening the state,” emphasized Chief Minister N Biren Singh during a press conference, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
The Chief Minister’s statement follows a significant joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on January 6.
On January 5, security forces successfully recovered 1.137 kg of the psychotropic drug WY tablets along the Assam-Manipur border.
Initiated based on specific intelligence inputs, the joint operation aimed to counter illicit activities amid the ongoing internal situation in Manipur, where miscreants exploit circumstances to smuggle contraband and drugs across state borders.
Reliable sources estimate the street value of the seized 1.137 kg of Psychotropic Drug WY Tablets at approximately Rs 1.5 Crore.
The apprehended individual, suspected to be involved in the illicit trade, along with the confiscated drugs, was promptly handed over to Jiribam Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
