Assam: Police Rescue 13 Teenage Girls from Trafficking Operation in Biswanath District
Guwahati, January 10: In a significant victory against human trafficking, Biswanath district police successfully rescued 13 teenage girls who were on the verge of being trafficked out of the state.
The operation took place at Rangapara railway station, where a police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabajit Das Baghri apprehended three alleged traffickers, including the mastermind Suraj Nahak and his wife Swarasti Nahak, along with accomplice Habib Ali.
Acting on crucial inputs, the police intercepted a group attempting to transport the girls via train from North Jinjiya, Jinjiya tea estate, and Ratowa under Jinjiya police station.
The arrested traffickers are currently under interrogation, and the rescued teenagers are now under the care of law enforcement agencies.
The police suspect the involvement of a larger trafficking network in the state and aim to uncover more details through thorough questioning.
