Assam: Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali Criticizes Education Minister Over Teacher Shortage

Guwahati, 10th January: Baghbor MLA Sherman Ali expressed strong criticism against the state education minister, Ranoj Pegu, on January 10, condemning the absence of teachers in several schools within the district. Ali, visibly upset, raised concerns about the impact on students’ education and questioned the district administration’s responsibility.

Addressing reporters in Baghbor, MLA Sherman Ali stated, “There are no teachers in 6 schools in Baghbor. Such people should resign. This is so shameful. If you cannot serve the people of the community, then better you resign. You are the servant of the people. You are not a monarch. The DC considers himself a monarch. I want you people, don’t think of yourself as a monarch. Try to serve the people.”

Expressing frustration, Ali criticized both the district commissioner (DC) and additional district commissioner (ADC), urging Minister Ranoj Pegu to intervene and assess the situation. He emphasized the need for immediate action to address the teacher shortage, asserting that the education minister should not solely rely on officers and should actively engage in resolving the issue to prevent further deterioration of the education system in the state.
