Assam Governor Attends ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’, Addresses Public Engagement
Guwahati, 13th January: Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria participated in the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ (VBSY) on Thursday, January 13, interacting with beneficiaries at a program held in 10 No. Dakhin Boko Gaon Panchayat under Boko Development Block in Kamrup District. The nationwide campaign aims to raise awareness about government welfare schemes and achieve saturation.
Expressing his happiness at attending the program, Governor Kataria highlighted the significant momentum gained by the VBSY campaign since its launch on November 15. He emphasized the active involvement of various government departments in the campaign and called upon public representatives, district administration, and social organizations to actively participate in creating awareness and motivating people to avail themselves of government welfare benefits.
Governor Kataria emphasized the importance of holistic development for achieving a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and urged people to enjoy government benefits, empower themselves, and contribute to the nation’s development. He assured the government’s commitment to the empowerment of citizens and encouraged people to take advantage of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ for the complete saturation of welfare schemes.
He stated that VBSY’s overarching goal is to deliver essential services to all eligible beneficiaries, focusing on empowering citizens living at the last mile. However, during the Governor’s speech, some poor women who had been deprived of government benefits expressed their anger, leading to a momentary disruption. The situation was quickly brought under control, and in the presence of the Governor and senior government officials, the authorities approached the deprived beneficiaries to include them in the schemes.
Notable attendees at the program included MLA Boko Nandita Das, CEO Kamrup Zila Parishad Parag Kakoti, Kamrup Zila Parishad Vice President Kamburam Rabha, BDO Gangotri Neog, RHAC Executive Member Sumit Rabha, and other officials. Governor Kataria had also participated as the Chief Guest at the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Bhauriabhita Gaon Panchayat under Goraimari Development Block under Chaygaon LAC on Friday, January 12.
