Mizoram: Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) to Boycott NIT state’s 7th Convocation Over Recruitment Concerns
Northeast Desk, 17th January: The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the apex students’ organization in Mizoram, has declared its decision to boycott the 7th Convocation of the National Institute of Technology Mizoram (NIT Mizoram). The convocation, slated for January 17th, 2024, faces opposition from MZP due to concerns about the appointment of the Assistant Registrar at the institute.
Leaders of the student body claim that their demand for the annulment of the NIT’s assistant registrar appointment remains unaddressed. In response, they plan to stage a boycott and picketing to discourage attendance at the convocation.
MZP alleges significant irregularities in the recruitment process at NIT Mizoram, especially regarding the appointment of the Assistant Registrar. Supporting their claims, the student body has publicly shared relevant documents.
On Wednesday evening, MZP issued an office order urging all students to gather at Beraw Tlang for picketing attendees of the convocation. Various student bodies have subsequently expressed their support for MZP’s stance.
