Manipur Violence: State Govt Seeks Urgent Air Assets Amidst Ongoing Unrest in Moreh Town
Northeast Desk, 17th January: In the wake of recent unrest in the border town of Moreh, Manipur, where one IRB personnel lost their life, the state government has urgently requested air assets (helicopter) from the Ministry of Home Affairs for the next seven days.
The letter to the Ministry highlighted the continuous exchange of fire in Moreh, emphasizing the need for immediate support due to the prevailing law and order situation. The situation is considered serious, and the state government has expressed concerns about potential deterioration and the possibility of medical emergencies, requiring airlifting of security personnel and ammunition to Moreh.
The Commissioner Home, T Ranjit Singh, conveyed the urgency in a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking air assets to be placed in Imphal immediately for a minimum period of seven days to address the emergency requirements.
The ongoing tensions have prompted the need for swift and decisive actions to ensure the safety and security of the affected region.
