CBI Files Chargesheet Against Five in Manipur Police Training College Arms Loot Case
Northeast Desk, 17th January: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against five individuals in connection with the looting of arms and ammunition from Manipur Police Training College (MPTC) in May 2023. The accused—Moirangthem Anand Singh, Athokpam Kajit alias Kishorjit, Loukrakpam Michael Mangangcha alias Michael, Konthoujam Romojit Meitei alias Romojit, and Keisham Johnson alias Jhonson—have been chargesheeted before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati.
The CBI took over the investigation based on an FIR registered at Police Station Heingang, Imphal East, Manipur, and filed the chargesheet, alleging that a mob looted a significant quantity of arms and ammunition from the MPTC armoury during an ethnic conflict on May 4, 2023. The investigation continues, and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a fair trial, according to Indian law.
