Congress Alleges Vandalism of Banners and Posters Ahead of ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Assam
Guwahati, 20th January: The Congress on January 20 alleged that banners and posters welcoming its ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in North Lakhimpur town, Assam, were vandalized by miscreants. Led by Rahul Gandhi, the yatra is on its third day in the state, passing through various parts of Lakhimpur district.
A video shared by the party purportedly shows miscreants tearing down posters with Congress leaders’ photos in North Lakhimpur town on the night of January 19.
Senior Congress spokesperson Joy Prakash Das accused a section of BJP workers of committing the act. He expressed concern over the deteriorating political environment, stating, “Such kind of environment was never witnessed earlier. Since the time Lakhimpur district was formed, such a situation never took place.”
Das highlighted the alleged attack on youth Congress leaders, vandalism of cars, and tearing of posters, emphasizing that during the Congress’s tenure in power, they respected the BJP. He pointed out the contrasting scenario during Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, suggesting fear from the ruling party.
