Amit Shah: India to Fence Myanmar Border, Ending Free Movement Regime
Guwahati, 20th January: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that India will soon fence its border with Myanmar, similar to the border with Bangladesh, to restrict free movement. This decision will mark the end of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), allowing people near the India-Myanmar border to venture into each other’s territory without a visa.
During the passing out parade of Assam Police commandos in Guwahati, Shah stated, “India’s border with Myanmar will soon be protected like the border with Bangladesh.” He also mentioned reconsidering the Free Movement Regime agreement with Myanmar and emphasized ending free movement into India.
Shah criticized the previous Congress regime, stating that people had to pay bribes for government jobs during its tenure. He asserted that under BJP rule, not a single penny has to be paid for employment.
Additionally, Shah highlighted the upcoming consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, expressing pride for the entire country. He noted that the ceremony coincides with India’s journey towards becoming a superpower.
