Assam Police Seize Rs 11.20 Lakh Fake Currency, 2 held
Guwahati, 31st January: Assam Police, acting on a tip-off, recovered counterfeit currency amounting to Rs 11.20 lakh on January 30 in Golaghat. The Golaghat police conducted a raid at the old Amlapatty area, leading to the arrest of two individuals involved in the possession of fake currency. The arrested persons are now in custody, and legal action has been initiated against them.
This development follows an earlier success on January 13, where Assam Rifles and Assam Police apprehended two individuals engaged in a nexus of counterfeit currency and drug trafficking. Pritiranjan Talukdar and Kajal Sarkar were caught red-handed in Duhalia, Patharkandi, Karimganj, attempting to exchange fake currency for a substantial quantity of drugs. The duo, originally from Tripura, was taken into custody.
