Arunachal Police Seizes Heroin and Arrests Drug Peddlers in Successful Operation
Northeast Desk, 6th February: In a successful operation against drugs carried out by Arunachal Police on February 5, 15.42 grams of contraband suspected to be heroin and a cash amount of Rs 3790 were seized from a drug peddler.
According to police sources, information was received at PS Selposa regarding the sale of drugs by one peddler at NM Darlong, Seijosa, Pakke Kessang District.
Subsequently, a team led by Inspector P Payang, under the guidance of SP Pakke Kessang, and Tashi Darang, raided the house of Jumyir Gangkak (aged 22 Yrs), W/o Haricharan Boro at Niti Darlong village. During the raid, 35 vials filled with suspected heroin, 01 soap case filled with suspected heroin, and 164 empty vials, along with Rs 3790 in cash, were seized from the possession of accused Jumyir Gangkak in the presence of an executive magistrate.
A total of 15.42 grams of contraband were seized during the operation.
Further investigation revealed that accused Jumyir Gangkak disclosed information about the source of the contraband items. Following her revelations, another accused, Afjal Husain, also known as Raful (aged 23 yrs) of Vill.- Khonamukh, PS- Charduar, Dist, Sonitpur, Assam, was arrested on February 6. An additional 12.37 grams of suspected heroin were found and seized from the possession of accused Afzal Hussain.
The investigation into the case is ongoing as authorities continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
