AIUDF Chief Criticizes UCC Bill in Uttarakhand Assembly
Guwahati, 6th February: In response to the introduction of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill in the Uttarakhand Assembly, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal expressed skepticism, likening it to a distraction tactic used by failing governments. Ajmal took a swipe at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, suggesting that the UCC bill was a ploy to appease Prime Minister Modi and secure political longevity.
Drawing an analogy to a colorful garden, Ajmal argued against the UCC bill, stating that India’s diversity is its beauty, and imposing uniformity would diminish that uniqueness. He emphasized that a garden with only one flower lacks charm, echoing his belief that India’s richness lies in its diverse faiths and cultures.
Ajmal’s remarks underscore the AIUDF’s opposition to the UCC bill, portraying it as an artificial imposition that goes against the natural fabric of India’s pluralistic society. He urged for the bill to be discarded, asserting that such measures ultimately fail to sustain in a country as diverse as India.
