Assam CM Sarma Inaugurates Construction Skill Training Centre in Dhemaji District
Guwahati, 7th February: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated a Construction Skill Training Centre in Dhemaji district. The centre, established in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro, was officially opened by CM Sarma in Gogamukh.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 3.4 crore, the centre aims to provide skilling and placement services to registered construction workers. During the inauguration ceremony, CM Sarma expressed confidence that the dedicated 90-day training programme offered by the centre would enhance employment opportunities.
Speaking at the event, CM Sarma highlighted the partnership with L&T and emphasized the importance of high-tech training in areas such as tile laying, electrical work, and plumbing. He mentioned that such training would enable Assam’s youth to secure jobs not only within the state but also in other states and even abroad. He also announced plans to set up similar skill development centres in Kokrajhar and Nalbari in the near future.
With a strategic focus on creating a skilled and job-ready workforce, the Construction Skill Training Centre aims to address youth unemployment by providing valuable construction skills training. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader commitment to promoting skill development and generating employment opportunities in Assam’s construction sector.
