Guwahati: 2 Accused Youths Confess Involvement in Ganeshguri Case
Guwahati, 8th February: Guwahati Police made a breakthrough in the case of the tragic death of Ikramul Hussain in the Ganeshguri locality, apprehending the prime suspects involved. Ikramul Hussain succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal attack by several youths near Vishal Mega Mart on Tuesday.
Following rigorous investigation, the police arrested two individuals suspected to be involved in the crime. The primary accused, identified as Jitu Baishya (24), operates a biryani shop in front of Vishal Mega Mart, while his associate, Sanjib Barman (30), is a friend of Jitu. Additionally, one of Jitu’s relatives, Pranjal Baishya, who works in a bar at Six Mile locality, was present at the scene during the altercation.
Upon recording Pranjal’s statement, a police team from Dispur Police Station conducted searches at the residences of Jitu and Sanjib. The suspects, originally hailing from Uttar Jowardi and Balijar in Nalbari district respectively, had reportedly fled the area following the incident.
However, the police successfully apprehended the two youths from their respective homes in Nambari. Subsequently, they were taken into custody and interrogated, during which they confessed to their involvement in the crime.
The arrests mark a significant development in the investigation, bringing the authorities closer to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Ikramul Hussain’s tragic demise.
