Assam Government Initiates Flood Management and Rural Development Project in Jonai

Guwahati, 8th February: Minister of Water Resources, Pijush Hazarika, has unveiled ambitious plans to construct an embankment cum road with sluice gates in Jonai, Dhemaji, signaling a significant step in fortifying Assam against recurrent floods and improving rural connectivity. The announcement, made through his social media channels on February 8, underscores the state government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the persistent challenge of flooding in the region.

Minister Hazarika emphasized the dual objectives of the project, emphasizing its crucial role in not only mitigating the impact of floods but also in strengthening rural infrastructure. The embankment cum road with sluice gates is poised to emerge as a pivotal asset in Assam’s endeavor to enhance resilience against natural disasters, while simultaneously facilitating enhanced connectivity for remote communities.

“This initiative in Jonai, Dhemaji, represents a significant stride towards achieving a flood-free Assam while concurrently enhancing rural connectivity,” remarked Minister Hazarika in his social media announcement. He acknowledged the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in driving forward such transformative endeavors across the state.
