Assam: Woman killed in road mishap in Jagun-Jairampur road, driver held

Guwahati, 9th February: In a tragic incident, one woman was allegedly killed in a road accident that took place in National Highway No. 315 near Jairampur in Jagun on February 9.

The incident involved a Mahindra Thar vehicle with registration number AS23AF9809, which allegedly hit the victim identified as Meena Pun, aged 45, leading to her untimely demise.

As per sources, Meena was a resident of Bishnupur.

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, reportedly driven at high speed, collided with Meena Pun before fleeing the scene, leaving her fatally injured.

However, immediate action by the Arunachal Pradesh police resulted in the apprehension of the vehicle, which is now in custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

The owner of the vehicle, identified as Biren Bora, has come under scrutiny as authorities probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Jagun police officials are actively engaged in gathering evidence at the accident site, piecing together crucial details to unravel the sequence of events and ensure that those responsible for the accident are held accountable for their actions.

As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of Meena Pun and awaits justice for the tragic incident that has shaken the locality.
