Assam Chief Minister Launches Mission Basundhara 3.0 to Secure Land Rights
Guwahati, 16th February: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially launched Mission Basundhara 3.0, the Assam Government’s flagship program aimed at securing people’s land rights. The objective of this new mission is to further modernize and simplify land-related services throughout the state.
Earlier, the Assam cabinet announced that Mission Basundhara 2.0 would conclude on February 16, 2024, marking the beginning of Mission Basundhara 3.0.
Mission Basundhara 3.0 encompasses a range of services aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and transparency of land-related procedures. Primary services include digitizing land settlement for non-individual judicial entities, granting urban tenants ownership rights, resolving Bhoodan/Gramdan land disputes, converting grant land into periodic patta, resolving land settlement disputes arising from the acquisition of religious institutions, and launching “Map as a Service.”
The mission also proposes converting annual pattas to PP (Permanent Patta) and digitizing the patta process from start to finish. These programs are designed to streamline land-related transactions, making them more accessible and expeditious for residents.
A notable feature of Mission Basundhara 3.0 is the ceremonial distribution of land ownership records, or “pattas,” throughout the state from February 23 to 29. This symbolic gesture signifies the completion of the mission and its tangible impact on the local population.
