Assam Education Initiatives: Bilingual Textbooks and Digital Attendance
Guwahati, 16th February: The Department of School Education, Assam, has introduced bilingual textbooks in Science and Maths for Class VI and VII. These textbooks, available in Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, and English, aim to enhance comprehension and English proficiency among students.
Simultaneously, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is pioneering the full digitization of student attendance for the Higher Secondary (HS) examination 2024. This digital attendance system marks a significant step forward in examination administration and record-keeping.
The HS examinations, commencing on February 12 and concluding on March 13, 2024, will witness the participation of 2,80,216 candidates across the state. Of these, 1,39,486 are male candidates and 1,42,732 are female candidates.
The student body comprises 2,06,467 Arts stream students, 54,287 Science stream students, and 17,582 Commerce stream students. This diversity reflects the varied academic pursuits of students across Assam.
In a proactive measure, the AHSEC had earlier announced a Pre-Final Test Examination for HS second-year students in November, to be conducted in December 2023. This initiative aimed to prepare students thoroughly for their forthcoming HS examinations, underscoring AHSEC’s commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.
