BSF Jawan Injured in Gun Attack in Manipur’s Kakching District
Northeast Desk, 17th February: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan sustained injuries in a gun attack in Manipur’s Kakching district on Saturday, according to an official statement.
The injured head constable, identified as Som Dutt, aged 45 and hailing from Himachal Pradesh, suffered injuries to his left shoulder after being hit by a bullet at Sugnu village.
Following the incident, Dutt was promptly admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment.
The official further informed that there have been persistent attacks by armed assailants over the past three days at Sugnu. The latest attack, occurring on Friday night, involved gunfire from hill slopes using medium machine guns.
This recent incident comes in the wake of an armed assault on Sugnu village earlier in the week, which led to a gunfight between the assailants and village volunteers stationed in the area.
Sugnu had previously experienced severe violence last May, resulting in the burning of numerous houses and the loss of more than five lives. The escalating violence had forced hundreds of villagers to seek refuge in relief camps.
Authorities are actively investigating the recent attacks as tensions remain high in the region.
