Meghalaya Initiates ‘Bulk Water Supply to Adjoining Rural Villages of Tura Town’ Project
Northeast Desk, 17th February: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has taken a significant stride towards addressing the water needs of rural communities near Tura by launching the ‘Bulk Water Supply to Adjoining Rural Villages of Tura Town’ Project.
Funded by the North Eastern Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), this ambitious project aims to provide dependable and sustainable water supply to villages in the West and South West Garo Hills regions.
The project, centered around a river pumping mechanism drawing water from the Ganol River, holds the promise of enhancing the quality of life for residents in development blocks like Rongram, Rerapara, and Gambegre, which have long grappled with water scarcity issues, particularly during dry seasons.
With the project’s foundation laid, a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to ensure adequate water supply to these remote villages. Modern pumping equipment will facilitate the delivery of water to homes, farms, and local businesses, thereby alleviating the challenges posed by water shortages.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s commitment to addressing water-related challenges in rural Meghalaya underscores the government’s dedication to advancing the standard of living for all residents. By prioritizing infrastructure projects like the Bulk Water Supply programme, the administration seeks to promote equitable development across the state, leaving no community behind in its pursuit of progress.
