Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to visit Arunachal Pradesh on February 20

Northeast Desk, 18th February: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to embark on a significant two-day inaugural journey to Arunachal Pradesh, commencing on February 20. His visit coincides with the state’s celebration of its 38th Statehood Day, with a series of official engagements slated, as per official sources.

During his stay, Dhankhar will partake in the 38th Statehood Day festivities at the scenic Indira Gandhi Park and engage in various official programs. Notably, he will also grace the state award ceremony at Raj Bhawan on February 21, where distinguished individuals will be honored for their notable contributions.

The Vice President’s visit carries added weight amidst recent disruptions witnessed in the parliamentary arena. Instances of unanswered questions, opposition MPs’ suspensions, and personal attacks have raised concerns regarding the decorum within the nation’s highest legislative body.

In efforts to ensure the smooth execution of the Statehood Day celebrations and the award ceremony, measures have been instituted to uphold public peace and tranquility. An executive order, issued by Capital Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, imposes restrictions on gatherings within a 500-meter radius of Raj Bhavan from February 19 to 21, with provisions for authorized individuals.
