Assam: Three Drug Peddlers Arrested in Duliajan
Guwahati, 19th February: In a move to combat drug use and trafficking, the Assam police conducted a successful raid in Duliajan, resulting in the apprehension of three drug peddlers.
The operation, carried out by local police at a dhaba in Sukuta Chariali, led to the arrest of Simanta Saikia, Palash Gogoi, and Sanjeev Kohar, all residents of Duliajan. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a significant quantity of drugs in their possession, indicating their involvement in drug trafficking activities.
In addition to the arrests, law enforcement officials seized several vehicles, including a car with registration number AS01AH4559, and two motorcycles with registration numbers AS23AH5258 and QW06Y5077, respectively. Furthermore, a sum of Rs 70,000 in cash was confiscated from the suspects.
Following their apprehension, the Duliajan police filed a case against the individuals under section 34/2024 and subsequently transferred them to the Dibrugarh central jail. This proactive action underscores the commitment of Assam police in combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety.
