Arunachal: 3 active members of joint steering committee arrested for spearheading APPSC movement
Northeast Desk, 20th February: In a significant development, Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended three key members of the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC), who have been at the forefront of the APPSC (Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission) movement in the state following the cash-for-job scam revelation.
The PAJSC took to Facebook to announce the arrests, identifying the individuals as Tadak Nalo, Vice Chairman of PAJSC, along with members Marge Kamnyi and Techi Rana. Criticizing the government’s actions, the committee denounced the arrests as an attempt to stifle the voices of change seekers and highlighted the government’s failure to address the long-standing issue of the APPSC cash-for-job scam.
In response to the arrests, the PAJSC organized a black day on February 18, shedding light on the government’s inability to resolve the APPSC paper leak case. Under the leadership of Tadak Nalo, the committee initiated a ‘Pustak Jalao Andolan’ urging aspirants and citizens to burn books symbolically, uploading videos on social media platforms and tagging prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.
Additionally, the PAJSC announced its decision to boycott the Statehood Day celebrations scheduled for February 20, further demonstrating their discontent with the government’s handling of the APPSC issue. The arrests have sparked widespread outcry and renewed calls for accountability and transparency in addressing the concerns of aspirants and citizens affected by the scandal.
